People Living with HIV Stigma Index: the danger of self-stigmatization in Morocco, AIDSImpact 2019
Despite the important scientific progress in the fight of HIV/AIDS in term of prevention, Testing and treatment, Stigma and discrimination are still typify the HIV infection and constitute a barrier to intervention programs The Association de lute contre le sida in Morocco in collaboration with Ministry of Health, UNAIDS and Global Fund, led for the first time in Morocco and the MENA region, the Stigma Index study to document and assess the stigma that PLHIV suffer and to propose concrete reform actions.

Au Maroc, l’Association de lutte contre le sida (ALCS) mène, depuis 1992, un programme de prévention auprès des travailleuses du sexe (TS) afin de réduire leur vulnérabilité vis-à-vis de l’infection à VIH. Ce programme ne cesse d’évoluer et de s’adapter aux besoins des TS en tenant compte des avancées scientifiques et des approches communautaires novatrices.
Self-Esteem and HIV Infection in Morocco: Associated Factors Among People Living with HIV—Results from a Community-Based Study, Community Mental Health Journal
This study is the first to address the issue of self-esteem among PLHIV in Morocco. The level of self-esteem among Moroccan participants was quite low. Various factors were associated with self-esteem: sexual orientation, feeling of loneliness, representations about HIV infection and treatment, and factors related with serostatus disclosure.
